The Chord Company SignatureX Tuned ARAY tonearm cable is a high-end, hand-built analogue tonearm lead designed specifically to connect turntables to phono stages or preamplifiers with phono inputs. It uses separately shielded, silver-plated oxygen-free copper conductors in Chord's proprietary Tuned ARAY conductor geometry, combined with upgraded XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene) insulation and dual-layer foil plus high-density braid shielding for effective high-frequency noise rejection. The cable is built to order in the UK and can be supplied with straight or right-angle tonearm connectors and various DIN/RCA configurations, including slim (2-conductor) and reference (4-conductor) versions. ChorAlloy-plated contact areas on the connectors are used to improve conductivity and long-term resistance to tarnishing, while low-mass plugs with PTFE surrounds are chosen to reduce mechanical noise and enhance clarity. Standard length is typically 1.2m, with custom lengths and bespoke terminations available to order. Unlike generic SignatureX Tuned ARAY interconnects intended for CD players, DACs and streamers, this specific version is optimised as a tonearm cable for turntable signal and grounding, with dedicated earth connections and turntable-ready configurations.
