About the DAVE

The DAVE (Digital to Analogue Veritas in Extremis) is Chord Electronics' most advanced DAC ever created, representing over twenty years of research and development. It combines a digital-to-analog converter, reference-level headphone amplifier, and digital preamplifier in a single chassis. At its core is a Spartan 6 Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) with 1,000x the processing power of traditional chip DACs, loaded with over a million lines of code to address complex timing issues with precision. The device features a full-sized LCD display within Chord's signature porthole design, along with a rotary encoder and stainless steel controller for direct interactivity. The DAVE is known for its exceptional transient precision, holographic soundstage, and virtually absent jitter components, delivering music with unmatched reality and musicality through lossless digital volume control.
