The Chang Lightspeed 3200 (also known as CLS 3200) is a handcrafted powerline filter and surge protector developed by Michael Chang, an engineer and audiophile. It is designed to remove impurities and artifacts from the alternating current (AC) that powers audio and video components, protecting them from voltage surges and reducing pre-existing AC interference without adding additional artifacts. The unit is assembled by hand in Toledo, Ohio, using quality parts and is tested before shipping. The design avoids the use of inductive coils or transformers, which can cause time lag and degrade performance. Instead, it uses a proprietary transmission line arrangement with select magnetic materials to reduce radio frequency interference (RFI) and electromagnetic interference (EMI). The result is improved musicality, soundstage, spaciousness, dynamic contrast, and video clarity.
