About the TL0

The CEC TL0 is a high-end, top-loading belt-drive CD transport from Japanese manufacturer C.E.C. The original TL0 established CEC’s mechanically focused approach to digital playback, using separate belt drives for the disc spindle and laser pickup, a heavy brass stabilizer, floating suspension, and a physically separated power supply. The original model was subsequently superseded by later versions including the TL0-II, TL0X, and TL0 3.0. Specifications vary somewhat by generation; the figures below primarily describe the original TL0, with later-version details identified where relevant. It is a transport only and requires an external DAC. The original TL0 is no longer manufactured and is available only on the used market.
