About the PH53
The CEC PH53 is a high-end phono preamplifier designed to optimize cartridge performance with a variety of settings. It supports both Moving Magnet (MM) and Moving Coil (MC) cartridges, with precise adjustments available via DIP switches. The PH53 features a unique balanced current injection input for MC cartridges and a standard RCA input for MM or MC cartridges. It outputs both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA signals regardless of input type. The amplifier operates without overall negative feedback, eliminating dynamic distortion and preserving sound quality. It incorporates CEC's LEF (Load Effect Free) circuit technology, which enhances sound reproduction by minimizing musical degradation and distortion. The PH53 also includes a subsonic filter with selectable soft or maximum reduction curves to prevent mechanical vibration noise below 15Hz, protecting speakers and improving midrange clarity. The RIAA equalization uses Neumann time constants for professional-grade frequency response extending up to 50kHz. The unit is compact, with dimensions of 217.5(W) x 257(D) x 57(H) mm and weighs 2 kg. It is powered by AC 100-240V and consumes 10W. Accessories include an AC power cable and owner's manual. This model is highly regarded for its quiet operation, shielding against RFI, and exceptional musical expression, especially when used with balanced MC inputs.
