The Cathedral Sound Room Dampening Panels are compact acoustic treatment panels measuring 11" x 16" x 2" and weighing approximately 4 lbs each. They are designed to reduce room acoustic problems associated with bass standing waves, particularly in the mid-bass and deep bass range below 200 Hz, where room nodes are primarily excited. Typically mounted in upper corners where walls meet ceilings, these panels use the Venturi effect to speed up air flow through constricted perforations, creating turbulence and self-cancellation of sound energy, which reduces low frequency room modes and reverberation. This results in more tuneful bass with greater impact, clearer midrange and dialog articulation, and improved soundstage size and layering. The panels come in off white or black fabric and are easy to install with minimal placement tweaking. They are recommended for rooms with bass-related acoustic issues and are noted for being unobtrusive and effective without overdamping the sound.
