The Cary Audio Design CDP-1 is a premium CD player designed for audiophiles, offering high-resolution digital-to-analog conversion with dual Burr Brown PCM1792U DACs at 24-bit/192kHz. It supports HDCD decoding and can upsample digital audio signals up to 768 kHz. The player uses a triple-beam laser multi-speed CD/DVD ROM transport mechanism compatible with CD Audio, CD-R, and CD-RW formats. It features fully balanced dual-differential analog outputs (XLR and RCA), digital coaxial and optical outputs, and a robust aluminum chassis. The unit includes a CARY DSP 300 digital filter and a 3rd order Bessel analog filter, delivering a frequency response from 2 Hz to 22 kHz, dynamic range of 129 dB, signal-to-noise ratio of 122 dB, channel separation of 104 dB, and total harmonic distortion of 0.003%. It weighs 23 lbs and measures 4.5 x 17 x 13 inches. The CDP-1 also supports remote control via Philips RC5 IR code and RS-232 interface for full remote configuration.
