The Carver M-400t is a legendary compact power amplifier featuring Bob Carver's innovative magnetic field power supply technology. Despite measuring only 7" x 7" x 7" and weighing just 12 lbs, this cube delivers impressive power output: 200 watts per channel at 8 ohms stereo, 300 watts per channel at 4 ohms stereo, or 500 watts in bridged mono mode. The M-400t uses a unique Class H amplifier design with multiple power supply rails (±25V, ±50V, and ±80V) and a saturable core reactor for exceptional efficiency and minimal heat generation. Originally introduced in 1979 as the M-400 ($349), the M-400a variant followed in 1982 ($449), and the M-400t (with tube transfer function) arrived in 1983 ($449, approximately $1,100 in 2026 dollars). The amplifier is renowned for its revolutionary engineering, delivering genuine high-fidelity performance from a hand-sized package.
