About the Silver 7

The Carver Silver 7 is an ultra-high-power vacuum tube monoblock power amplifier, produced in very small numbers, using a dual-chassis layout per channel (separate power supply and amplifier section) linked by a heavy umbilical cable and mounted on granite bases to reduce vibration and microphony. Each monoblock uses a large array of KT88 output tubes and extremely large output transformers, and was created by Bob Carver as a statement-level design intended to deliver several hundred watts of tube power into typical loudspeaker loads. The amplifiers feature a distinctive retro industrial look with large front-panel meters and exposed tubes, run very hot, are physically massive, and require careful installation and ongoing tube maintenance. They are widely regarded among enthusiasts as rare collectible reference-grade tube amplifiers noted for their combination of enormous headroom with authoritative bass, open midrange, and expansive soundstage.
