About the Dragon 5.1 Plus
The Camelot Technology Dragon 5.1 Plus is an interface box designed to handle digital datastreams from DVD transports, CD players, or satellite receivers. It accepts up to three digital inputs including coaxial (RCA), AES/EBU, TosLink, and proprietary I2S inputs, and converts them into coaxial or AES/EBU outputs. The device addresses jitter caused by timing errors and impedance mismatches by using special signal-conditioning circuits to correct cable impedance to 75 ohms and isolate ground loops. It reclocks the digital datastream using a phase-lock-loop circuit with an internal crystal oscillator to eliminate clock jitter, resulting in a digital signal free of time-based errors. The unit features a thin black anodized front panel and compact dimensions to fit easily in audio setups. It was introduced around 2000 and
