The Cambridge Audio DacMagic employs two Wolfson WM8740 24-bit DAC ICs in dual-differential mode, allowing separate and symmetrical analog filter circuitry for each stereo channel, resulting in excellent stereo imaging and sound staging. It uses Cambridge Audio's proprietary Dual Differential Virtual Earth Balanced filter topology configured as a low-order two-pole linear-phase Bessel filter for extreme linearity and greater dynamic range. The DAC features Adaptive Time Filtering (ATF), an asynchronous up-sampling process that interpolates incoming audio data from 16-24 bits at 32-96kHz to 24-bit at 192kHz, improving musical reproduction clarity. Inputs include 2 digital inputs (each with coaxial and optical connections) and a USB audio input (Type B). Outputs include balanced XLR, unbalanced RCA, and digital pass-through outputs (coaxial and optical). The frequency response is 20Hz to 20kHz (±0.1dB), with a THD of 0.002% and a signal-to-noise ratio of 112dB. The unit measures 52 x 215 x 191mm and weighs 1.2kg. It is available in black or silver finishes and comes with a 2-year warranty. The DacMagic supports digital input word widths of 16-24 bits and sampling frequencies of 32kHz, 44.1kHz, 48kHz, 88.2kHz, and 96kHz (48kHz max for USB). It outputs a fixed 24-bit 192kHz signal.
