About the BP3
The Bryston BP-3 is a dedicated MM/MC phono preamplifier that applies extremely low-distortion, wide-bandwidth amplification to tiny cartridge signals, bringing them up to line level with very low noise and precise RIAA equalization. Available in a version that supports both moving magnet and moving coil cartridges, it offers 41 dB of gain in MM mode and engages high-quality step-up transformers in MC mode to provide additional gain with virtually no added noise or distortion, making it suitable even for low-output MC designs. The BP-3 is designed to be powered by an external Bryston analog power supply (such as the PS-3 or compatible units), which keeps the noise floor exceptionally low, and includes a front-panel mono switch on current production. It is aimed at vinyl listeners who want a neutral, wide-bandwidth, low-noise interface between their turntable and line preamplifier for high-resolution analog playback.
