About the BDP-II

The Bryston BDP-II is a state-of-the-art digital music player designed for audiophiles, supporting playback of most high-resolution digital music formats including AIFF, FLAC, WAV up to 24-bit/192kHz, as well as standard formats like MP3 and M4A. It features six USB 2.0 inputs (two front, four rear), an optional internal SATA hard drive bay, and eSATA input for external drives. The unit outputs digital audio via SPDIF (BNC) and AES/EBU (XLR) connectors to external DACs such as Bryston's BDA-1. It is powered by a custom Intel Atom motherboard with significantly improved processing power and memory over its predecessor, enabling faster library management and playback. Control options include front panel buttons, Bryston's BR2 infrared remote, web apps (MINI for mobile, MAX for desktop), and iOS apps via WiFi. The BDP-II supports network connectivity through dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, NAS compatibility, UPnP/DLNA server functionality, and streaming from AirPlay and Squeezebox sources. It also features a proprietary Integrated Audio Device (IAD) USB-to-SPDIF/AES converter powered by a linear power supply for enhanced audio performance. Additional features include two RS-232 ports for device control, remote 12V trigger, and user-upgradable firmware. The BDP-II does not have a built-in DAC but is designed to work with external DACs for analog output.
