About the BCD-3
The Bryston BCD-3 is a state-of-the-art CD player engineered solely for playing standard 16-bit/44.1kHz Redbook CDs, including commercially produced CDs, CD-R, and CD-RW discs. It uses a professional-grade optical disc transport and dual balanced AKM 4490 digital-to-analog converters based on the design of Bryston's flagship BDA-3 DAC. Both the optical pickup and DACs are synchronized to a single ultra-precise master clock to eliminate jitter, ensuring zero jitter and superb linearity. The analog output stage employs Bryston's proprietary fully discrete class-A operational amplifiers, delivering clean, detailed, and distortion-free sound. The BCD-3 offers balanced XLR and single-ended RCA analog outputs, as well as AES/EBU XLR and S/PDIF RCA digital outputs, allowing flexible connectivity. Control options include Ethernet, USB, IR, DC, and RS-232, enabling integration with home networks and automation systems. The unit is available with either a 17" or 19" faceplate in black or silver anodized aluminum, with a rack-mountable 2U option. It comes with a remote control and is built with a robust, solid aluminum chassis typical of Bryston's high-end products. The BCD-3 does not support SACD or DVD formats, focusing exclusively on optimizing CD playback quality.
