About the 3B-ST

The Bryston 3B-ST is a solid-state, THX-certified stereo power amplifier with a class-AB2 output stage, delivering 120 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 200 watts per channel into 4 ohms, with 400 watts available in bridged mono mode into 8 ohms. It uses a dual-mono design with separate power supplies and individual 225 VA toroidal transformers and large smoothing capacitors for each channel, supporting stable power delivery. The amplifier provides balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs, with selectable gain via rear-panel switches, and incorporates a soft-start circuit to avoid tripping breakers or causing line surges. The compact 22 lb chassis measures 19" W x 5.25" H x 9" D and uses its metalwork as a heatsink, with front-panel clip LEDs for monitoring and protection. Key specifications include very low distortion (0.007% THD), a damping factor of approximately 500, wide 1 Hz to 100 kHz bandwidth, and a signal-to-noise ratio of around 106 dB.
