About the M5

The Bricasti Design M5 is a high-end network player, renderer, and digital transport designed to receive music from a local network and deliver bitstream audio to an external DAC. It supports Ethernet networking, optional Wi-Fi through a regionally approved adapter, DLNA/UPnP-based playback, and Roon Ready operation, with compatibility reported for software such as Roon, JRiver, and Audirvana. Digital outputs include AES/EBU, coaxial S/PDIF on RCA or optional 75-ohm BNC, and USB. AES and S/PDIF support PCM up to 192 kHz and DSD64 via DoP; USB extends support to PCM up to 384 kHz and DSD64/DSD128 via DoP. The unit uses an anodized-aluminum chassis and an internally specified factory-set universal-voltage power supply. It is a digital transport rather than a DAC, so it has no analog audio output, DAC chip specification, analog frequency response, output level, or amplifier power rating.
