About the CDM 1

The CDM 1 is a highly regarded 2-way vented-box loudspeaker system from Bowers & Wilkins, known for its excellent sound quality and elegant design. It features a 1-inch metal dome tweeter mounted on top of the cabinet for improved stereo imaging and time coherence, and a 6.5-inch woven Kevlar cone bass/midrange driver similar to those used in the famous Matrix 801 series. The cabinet is finished in real wood veneers with graceful curves to reduce resonance and enhance clarity. The speaker has a frequency response of 64Hz to 20kHz ±2dB, sensitivity of 88dB SPL at 2.83V/1m, and an impedance of 8 ohms (minimum 4.5 ohms). Recommended amplifier power ranges from 30W to 120W. The crossover frequency is 3000Hz. Dimensions are 370mm high, 220mm wide, and 274mm deep, with a weight of 8.5 kg per speaker. The ferrofluid in the tweeters has been replaced to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
