About the DM 604

The Bowers & Wilkins DM 604 is a high-performance 3-way bass reflex floorstanding loudspeaker system manufactured between 1995 and 1999 in England. It features a dedicated 180mm Kevlar midrange driver housed in its own enclosure to reduce distortion, two 180mm Cobex bass drivers for powerful and extended bass response, and a 26mm aluminium dome tweeter. The speaker has a frequency response of approximately 44Hz to 22kHz (±3 dB), sensitivity of 90 dB (2.83 V, 1 m), and an impedance of 8 ohms (minimum 3.3 ohms). It is designed to handle amplifier power from 25 to 200 watts. The cabinet is available in black ash or cherry vinyl finishes, with dimensions of 996 x 236 x 411 mm and a weight of about 28.2 kg. The DM 604 includes bi-amping terminals and a tunable port plug to adjust bass response according to room acoustics. It is well-suited for reproducing detailed midrange and deep bass, making it capable of handling delicate solo performances to complex large ensembles. The original retail price was approximately 1100€ per pair. The DM 604 S2 and S3 are later iterations with similar design principles and improvements in driver materials and cabinet design.
