About the CT8

The Bowers & Wilkins CT8 is a high-performance Custom Theatre loudspeaker system component, generally identified as the CT8 LR left/right front speaker. It is a large, three-way, closed-box design intended for dedicated home-cinema installations. The speaker uses a Nautilus-style tube-loaded metal/aluminium dome tweeter, a 150 mm Aramid/Kevlar-fibre FST midrange, and two 250 mm bass drivers using Rohacell/carbon-fibre sandwich cone technology. Its spherical midrange/tweeter assembly can be angled toward the listening position, while the Matrix cabinet and active bass-management architecture are intended to deliver high output with controlled low-frequency response. The CT8 LR is semi-active: the bass section requires an active crossover and separate amplification; the CT800 system crossover/controller is used for bass management. The CT8 family also included related CT8 CC centre, CT8 DS surround, CT8 SW subwoofer and CT8 XO/CT800 system-control components, so specifications can vary when “CT8” is used without the LR suffix.
