About the Optical
The Blue Jeans Cable Optical Cable is designed for digital audio applications following the TOSlink standard. It uses a jacketed plastic optical fiber (POF) which, while generally more lossy than glass fiber, is preferred for its physical durability and appropriate aperture size for optical digital audio. The cable features a tough cladding layer and a flexible outer PVC jacket similar in texture to high-flex Belden cables, enhancing durability. It has been tested to perform well at lengths up to 50 feet. However, some users have reported that the cable works reliably at 24-bit/96 kHz audio but may not support 24-bit/192 kHz playback, a limitation noted in user experiences with this and similar optical cables. This cable is suitable for devices requiring optical digital audio connections and is manufactured by Blue Jeans Cable in Seattle, Washington.
