About the 3202
The Black Cat Cable 3202 interconnect cable was designed by Chris Sommovigo with an innovative approach that reverses the traditional conductor layout: the positive signal is carried on the outside of the core, while the return signal is inside. It features a 32-element matrix braid of pure copper conductors wrapped around a hollow Teflon (PTFE) tube with an internal 'Airwave' conductor suspended in air, resulting in extraordinarily low capacitance. The core includes a 6 mm diameter made of pure cotton strings for mechanical vibration damping. This design yields a smooth, harmonious tonal balance with an emphasis on an open midrange and nicely extended treble without harshness. The bass is controlled and musical rather than overly deep. The cable is praised for its 'effortlessness' in sound reproduction, with no sense of strain or coloration, allowing the music to emerge naturally and the system to fade away. It is considered a 'lite' trickle-down from Black Cat's more expensive TRØN cables, offering excellent bandwidth and electrical precision as a 75 Ohm coaxial cable. The cable is handmade in the USA with Japanese materials and is available with Neutrik XLR or Lovecraft RCA connectors. It is highly regarded for its balance, dynamics, and refined sound quality at a relatively affordable price point compared to other high-end cables.
