About the Tuba HT

The Bill Fitzmaurice Tuba HT (usually abbreviated THT) is a DIY, folded-horn home-theater subwoofer design sold as construction plans rather than as a finished loudspeaker. It is intended for very deep bass, high acoustic output, and low distortion with comparatively modest amplifier power. The enclosure can use a 12-inch or 15-inch woofer, with the larger 15-inch format being the primary configuration. Cabinet width is configurable, so final dimensions, driver compatibility, impedance, weight, and performance depend on the selected plan option, driver, materials, room placement, and amplifier/DSP setup. The current recommended 15-inch driver cited by the designer is the Dayton Audio RSS390HF-4.
