The Benz Micro Lukaschek PP-1 MC Phono Preamp is optimized for moving coil cartridges and features a minimalist design without switches or jumpers for gain or resistive loading to preserve low noise and high performance. It uses only two transistors per amplifier stage for perfect stability and extremely fast transient response, resulting in high transparency and accuracy. The circuit boards are high quality double-sided glass epoxy with carefully designed topology to minimize signal path length. Low noise matched bipolar transistors and high precision metal film resistors are used, along with 1% polystyrene capacitors in the RIAA network and metalized plastic-film capacitors for coupling. The preamp stage is individually regulated with discrete transistors in a constant-load configuration, improving distortion and RIAA equalization accuracy. The PP-1 delivers a slightly warmer tonal balance with more resolution and extension, bigger and more solid bass, effortless and transparent highs, and improved focus, soundstage depth, and dimensionality. It is compact for close placement to the turntable, minimizing signal lead length, and includes an external power transformer to reduce magnetic interference. The unit is Swiss made and highly regarded for its sonic refinement.
