About the Iconoclast 4x4 OCC
The Iconoclast 4x4 OCC Balanced Interconnects by Belden are premium XLR cables designed with a unique star-quad configuration where each of the four 24 AWG bare copper conductors is suspended in air tubes centered by a spiral glass and Teflon spacer filament. This design minimizes inductance and capacitance, improving signal integrity. The cable features a clover-leaf style central spline, an outer FEP layer, and a high-coverage bare copper braid shield for excellent EMI/RFI protection. Terminations are ultrasonically welded for a strong, low-resistance, oxygen-free joint without solder. The OCC (Ohno Continuous Cast) copper variant offers a refined, elegant sound signature with smooth top-end and detailed midrange, described as sounding expensive and highly engaging. The cable is manufactured by Belden and assembled and distributed by Blue Jeans Cable. It is noted for its solid conductors which are less flexible and resist rotation, making it more suitable for stationary high-end audio setups rather than desktop use.
