About the USB Link 24/96
The Bel Canto USB Link 24/96 is a compact, USB-powered digital audio interface designed to convert computer-derived USB audio signals up to 24-bit/96kHz into SPDIF output via a 75 ohm BNC connector. It is compatible with native Mac and Windows drivers, requiring no additional software. The device includes a high-quality Stereovox XV2 BNC/BNC cable with an RCA adaptor to connect to any quality DAC, typically used with Bel Canto DAC3. It disables system volume control to ensure maximum sound quality and features a low-jitter clock recovery system with a reference crystal oscillator. Galvanic isolation between the computer and audio system prevents high-frequency noise interference. The USB Link 24/96 is housed in a small aluminum enclosure with black plastic endcaps and is powered solely via USB, benefiting from LC filters and low-noise local regulation. Setup is straightforward: connect the USB input to a computer and the SPDIF output to a DAC. The device significantly improves the sound quality of 16-bit 44.1kHz files as well as high-resolution audio. Internally, it uses a Texas Instruments TAS1020 chip for USB to I2C conversion and a Crystal CS8406 chip for SPDIF formatting and galvanic isolation.
