About the Mandala

The Bastanis Mandala is a discontinued modular open-baffle loudspeaker system. Its upper baffle uses two proprietary 12-inch Chrystal wideband drivers and a centrally mounted Gemini compression tweeter in an MTM-style arrangement; bass is supplied by separate actively powered bass modules. Period documentation identifies several bass-module choices: sealed 12-inch or 15-inch units, or an 18-inch folded/open-baffle dipole (often described as the Ultimate/Ripole-style option). The wideband section is intended for very low-power valve amplifiers, while the bass modules require their own amplification. Exact system performance, dimensions, and supplied bass amplifier varied with the selected Mandala version and configuration.
