About the Vector 3

The Basis Audio Vector 3 tonearm is a high-performance arm in the Vector series that uses A.J. Conti's distinctive dual-bearing, fluid-damped design to address dynamic azimuth error typically found in unipivot tonearms. Drawing on a unipivot-like main bearing that carries most of the arm's weight and a secondary stabilizer bearing loaded via an asymmetrically weighted counterweight, the Vector 3 maintains azimuth stability while minimizing bearing chatter and side-to-side rolling as the stylus tracks record warps. It is engineered to integrate optimally with Basis turntables and can also be mounted on compatible non-Basis decks via appropriate armboards or mounting hardware, offering precise tracking and low record wear when correctly set up. The arm provides fine adjustments for cartridge alignment, tracking force, and azimuth; vertical tracking angle (VTA) is adjustable via the arm's height at the support cup, though the dedicated VTA micrometer feature is specific to the Vector 4 variant rather than the Vector 3.
