The Basis 2800 Signature turntable is part of Basis Audio's high-mass series and is essentially the 2500 model enhanced with a vacuum hold-down system. It features a 2-inch thick acrylic platter with brass plugs inserted to reduce resonances, mounted on an ultra-close tolerance oil-well bearing designed to minimize lateral forces and friction for silent backgrounds and transparent sound. The vacuum hold-down system applies a controlled negative pressure to the underside of the record, ensuring perfect flatness and eliminating record resonance, which improves dynamics, imaging, and tracking. The motor is a custom-designed ultra-high quality synchronous instrument motor with low cogging and vibration, contributing to speed stability and low noise. The turntable weighs approximately 51 to 65 pounds depending on configuration and includes oil-damped feet for isolation. Optional upgrades include the Synchro-Wave power supply and Calibrator Base for enhanced vibration isolation. The 2800 is highly regarded for its engineering precision and musical performance, delivering an exhilarating analog playback experience.
