About the MMC 20CL
The Bang & Olufsen MMC 20CL is the flagship model of the MMC 20 series, designed specifically for tangential tracking turntables. It was the first B&O cartridge to use a single-crystal sapphire cantilever, which offers a very rigid yet lightweight structure, enhancing sound quality. The stylus is a naked contact line diamond, a simplified version of the Pramanik diamond found on the MMC 6000, providing maximum groove contact and excellent tracking. The cartridge is available with either ½" or P-mount options for compatibility with various turntables. It features a moving iron design with an extremely low effective tip mass (ETM) of 0.3 mg, contributing to reduced groove wear and high fidelity. The MMC 20CL has an excellent frequency response from 20 Hz to 20 kHz ±1 dB, channel separation greater than 30 dB at 1 kHz, and minimal distortion. It is not user-serviceable in terms of stylus replacement. The cartridge was highly praised by the audio press upon release and remains a sought-after component for high-end vinyl playback.
