About the Beocord 9000
The Bang & Olufsen Beocord 9000 is a premium 3-head stereo cassette deck produced from 1981 to 1987. It features a unique Computer Controlled Calibration (CCC) system that automatically optimizes bias, equalization, sensitivity, and VU meter calibration for any cassette tape in about nine seconds, ensuring professional-quality recordings. The deck supports tape types including ferric, chrome, ferrochrome, and metal, and incorporates the Bang & Olufsen HX Professional Recording System for headroom extension. It includes Dolby B and advanced Dolby C noise reduction, which reduces tape noise significantly. The Beocord 9000 has a real-time tape counter that can display time elapsed and remaining, and it can store calibration data for frequently used tapes. Its tape heads are a specially designed Sendust/ferrite type with separate tone gaps for recording and playback, housed in a single casing for wide frequency response and accurate azimuth alignment. The design was created by Jakob Jensen. This deck was aimed at serious music lovers and professionals seeking the highest fidelity from cassette recordings.
