About the Beocord 8002
The Bang & Olufsen Beocord 8002 is a stereo cassette deck introduced around 1981-1982, designed by Jacob Jensen. It features a 2-head, single compact cassette mechanism with a 4-track, 2-channel stereo system and tape speed of 4.75 cm/s. It supports tape types including type I (ferric), CrO2 (chrome), and Metal tapes, with automatic tape type switching. The deck incorporates Dolby B noise reduction and the HX Pro (Headroom eXtension) system, which optimizes bias levels during recording for improved sound quality across all tape types. It offers a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz (+/- 3 dB), a signal-to-noise ratio greater than 68 dB with Dolby NR on metal tapes, and total harmonic distortion of 2%. The Beocord 8002 includes features such as automatic track search by address input, programmable unattended recording within 24 hours, and remote control operation when paired with compatible Bang & Olufsen systems. Dimensions are 530 x 130 x 300 mm, and it weighs approximately 7.5 kg. Power consumption is up to 50 W, with multiple voltage versions available. Connections include microphone input (0.1 mV/3 kohms), AUX input (100 mV/56 kohms), and headphones output (10 V/56 ohms).
