About the Rex
The Balanced Audio Technology Rex preamplifier is a high-end, two-box component consisting of a vacuum-tube power module and a separate control module. It features a fully balanced design with eight 6H30 tubes in the control module and a power module containing two 5AR4, four 6C19, two 6H30, and two 6C45 tubes. The Rex offers 5 XLR inputs and 2 XLR main outputs plus 1 XLR tape output. It has a volume control with 140 steps of 0.5 dB resolution, a frequency response from 2 Hz to 200 kHz, maximum gain of 17 dB, and maximum output of 50 V. Distortion at 2 V output is extremely low at 0.005%, with noise at -100 dB unweighted. The input impedance is a minimum of 100 kΩ and output impedance is 200 Ω. The control and power modules weigh 40 lbs and 36 lbs respectively, with dimensions of 19" W x 5.75" H x 15.5" D each. The Rex is designed for audiophiles seeking exceptional transparency, dynamic scale, and textural insight in music reproduction. It includes a remote control and switchable absolute polarity for user convenience.
