About the Prime 14

The Backes & Müller BM Prime 14 is a German-made, full-range active floorstanding loudspeaker from the Prime series. It uses four individually sensor-controlled 17 cm (7-inch) bass drivers with Kevlar/carbon-fiber composite diaphragms and a B&M-modified Air Motion Transformer (AMT) high-frequency driver. FPGA-based digital signal processing, FIRTEC time alignment, DMC2.0 sensor control, active filtering, limiters, and room-adjustment functions are integrated into each loudspeaker. The design provides balanced analog and AES3 digital connectivity, plus a dedicated output for a time-aligned active subwoofer. Published technical information varies slightly by production revision and source: cabinet dimensions are reported as either approximately 280 × 1440 × 400 mm or 242 × 1304 × 380 mm, and frequency response as either 25–24,000 Hz or below 30–24,000 Hz, both at ±3 dB. The manufacturer’s museum listing identifies the BM Prime 14 as a discontinued model produced from 2015 to 2020.
