About the CX-7e

The Ayre CX-7e CD player, part of the 'e' Evolution series, features upgrades including enhanced power supply with Dynamic Power technology, RFI filtering, increased peak current delivery, a new Xilinx FPGA replacing multiple Burr-Brown chips for improved digital processing and future upgradability, and Burr-Brown PCM1738 DAC chips with DF1706 upsampling. It offers two digital filter modes: 'Listen' for time-domain accuracy and 'Measure' for frequency-domain accuracy. The player delivers detailed, dynamic, rich sound with excellent bass articulation, wide soundstage, and forgiving nature to recording imperfections. It uses a TEAC-sourced DVD-ROM transport and supports balanced XLR and single-ended RCA analog outputs, with a defeatable AES/EBU digital output. Power consumption is 30W, and it includes a remote control. This model has been superseded in Ayre's lineup, indicating it is no longer manufactured.
