About the Ingenium
The AVID HIFI Ingenium is a compact, belt-drive plug-and-play turntable designed and manufactured by AVID HiFi. It combines a solid aluminium chassis, elastomer suspension, Sorbothane-based isolation feet, an inverted stainless-steel bearing with a tungsten-carbide/sapphire thrust interface, and a 2.5 kg self-damping MDF/HDF platter with cork mat. The original Plug&Play configuration is supplied with an AVID TA-1 tonearm and AVID CA-1 moving-magnet cartridge, factory fitted and aligned for straightforward setup. It supports 33 1/3 and 45 rpm records and can be upgraded with a metal platter, improved power supply, acrylic cover, and other tonearm configurations. AVID currently presents an Ingenium SE as a newer evolution of the original Plug&Play model; the original Ingenium should therefore be regarded as an earlier/discontinued configuration, although remaining dealer stock or service parts may still exist.
