About the Trio Omega
The Trio Omega is a 3-way spherical horn loudspeaker system by Avantgarde Acoustic, derived from the classic Trio platform and voiced for ultra-high efficiency and tube-amp friendliness. It uses a large low-midrange horn driven by the L3 Omega 8-inch driver with a high-impedance 16-ohm voice coil for the lower frequencies, a 2-inch M3 Omega midrange driver (27-ohm) on a spherical mid horn covering down to roughly 600 Hz, and a 1-inch H3 Omega tweeter (16-ohm) on a compact HF horn blending in at 4 kHz. The passive network implements Avantgarde's minimalist CDC/CPC crossover concept, using only a handful of carefully selected passive components to reduce series losses and phase distortion while preserving dynamics and transparency. All horn drivers employ Avantgarde's Omega voice-coil technology for unusually high system impedance and very easy driveability with low-power amplifiers. Below 100 Hz the Trio Omega is intended to be combined with Avantgarde's active bass solutions such as SUB231 subwoofers, ADRIC horn bass modules, or multiple Basshorn G2 modules to extend response into the deep bass region. System sensitivity is approximately 109 dB (1 W/1 m), allowing very high sound pressure levels with extremely low amplifier power while maintaining low distortion.
