About the Duo Mezzo XD

The Avantgarde Acoustic Duo Mezzo XD is a high-sensitivity, semi-active floorstanding horn loudspeaker system. Its externally amplified midrange and treble section uses spherical horns with 18-ohm Omega drivers and Alnico magnets, including a 670 mm midrange horn, while the bass section incorporates two 12-inch drivers and an internally powered 2 × 500 W Class-D amplifier. Avantgarde’s CDC design avoids passive filters in the mid/treble signal path, and the 100 V CPC crossover/drive concept is intended to provide controlled, low-distortion operation. The XD bass section includes DSP control for low-frequency equalization and room integration. With sensitivity of approximately 107 dB, the system is suitable for low-powered and tube amplifiers driving the horn section. The Duo Mezzo XD is a discontinued model from Avantgarde Acoustic’s XD range and has been replaced in the company’s current lineup by newer-generation designs.
