The Ascendant 2 is a refined version of Avalon's Ascendant loudspeaker, designed to deliver a perfect balance of dynamics, transparency, coherence, and tonality. It features two 7-inch Nomex-Kevlar cone woofers for rich, distortion-free bass and a 1-inch titanium dome tweeter for clear, detailed highs. The speaker is a 2-way, 3-driver system with a bass reflex design and a carefully engineered crossover network housed in an isolated chamber to minimize resonance and interference. The cabinet is constructed from low-resonance MDF with a natural wood powder surface, finished by hand with premium wood veneers such as quilted cherry, curly maple, figured walnut, myrtle, or walnut burl. It has a sensitivity of 90 dB, nominal impedance of 4 ohms, and is recommended to be paired with amplifiers from 25 to 200 watts. The Ascendant 2 is praised for its creamy, coherent sound with excellent imaging and a wide, stable soundstage, making it suitable for a wide range of music genres, especially classical and detailed acoustic recordings.
