About the VL8

The Australian Monitor VL8 is a unique professional column line array loudspeaker that provides high fidelity sound reinforcement with a wide cylindrical wave pattern. It is designed to perform well in venues with poor acoustics and reduces unwanted feedback during live performances. The VL8 uses an innovative waveguide with 8 identical 1" custom tweeters coupled to fiber reinforced waveguide and 8 robust 3" midrange drivers, producing impressive frequency bandwidth and true cylindrical waves. This design ensures that sound pressure level drops by just 3dB for every doubling of distance, rather than 6dB as in conventional speakers, providing uniform horizontal coverage of 110°. The enclosure is made from 5mm solid extruded aluminum with die-cast end caps to minimize resonance and unwanted coloration. It is available in black (VL8B) or white (VL8W) with several mounting options including fixed, variable angle, and pole mounted brackets. The VL8 supports both direct voice-coil and constant voltage operation via a rear panel selection switch, making it versatile for various professional audio applications.
