About the S10

The Aurender S10 is a high-end, Linux‑based digital music server/transport designed for audiophiles who want top‑tier sound quality from local digital files without an internal DAC. It uses a fanless, heavy aluminum chassis with finned heatsinks and dual AMOLED front displays, and weighs about 14 kg. Music is stored on an internal 2TB hard drive, while playback is made from a 64GB solid‑state drive cache to reduce jitter by reading files from SSD before output. Supported formats include AIFF, ALAC, FLAC, WAV, MP4, M4A, APE and other major lossless types, at resolutions up to 24‑bit/192 kHz via its digital outputs. Clocking and re‑clocking are handled by OCXO (Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillator) modules for very high timing precision and low jitter. The S10 provides AES/EBU, coaxial (S/PDIF), optical (TosLink) and later‑firmware USB Audio Class 2.0 outputs, plus Gigabit Ethernet and USB 2.0 ports for networking, updates, file transfer and external storage/NAS access. Control is primarily via Aurender’s Conductor iPad app, with front‑panel buttons for power, display mode, play/pause and track navigation. The twin AMOLED displays can show detailed track metadata or selectable level‑meter views, and the overall build quality and sonic performance have positioned the S10 as a reference‑grade digital transport/music server in its price class (originally around £5,000–$7,000, iPad not included).
