The AURALiC Aries Wireless Streaming Bridge, released in June 2014, functions as a bridge between music files on your network or streaming services and your DAC, enabling high-resolution wireless streaming without a built-in DAC. It supports a wide range of audio formats including AAC, AIFF, ALAC, APE, DIFF, DSF, FLAC, MP3, OGG, WAV, WV, and WMA, and can stream PCM/DXD data up to 32-bit/384kHz as well as DSD64, DSD128, and DSD256 files. The Aries is powered by a quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor at 1GHz with 1GB memory and 4GB internal storage, making it a powerful and easy-to-use device that is quieter and more compact than a traditional computer. It features dual-band high-speed Wi-Fi, Gigabit Ethernet, and USB 2.0 inputs, with outputs including USB audio host buffered by patented technology. The device is fanless and housed in a sleek anodized aluminum case. Dimensions are approximately 25cm x 20cm x 7cm with an external power supply. Later versions like the Aries G1.1 and G2.2 add tri-band Wi-Fi, multiple digital outputs (AES/EBU, Coaxial, Toslink), and support for advanced features such as MQA passthrough and optional internal NVMe storage. Power consumption during playback is around 50W, with standby and sleep modes consuming less than 10W and 0.5W respectively. The Aries supports various control software including AURALiC Lightning DS, OpenHome compatible apps, Roon, and streaming services like TIDAL Connect, Spotify Connect, and Amazon Music Unlimited.
