About the Audiopax Model 88

The Audiopax Model 88 is a monoblock power amplifier delivering 30 watts into 8Ω with a frequency response from 14Hz to 100kHz. It features an advanced variant of the LM3 Low Mu Triode circuit with higher raw efficiency and no global feedback, resulting in a pure and quiet sound. The amplifier includes the proprietary Timbre Lock® system, which allows users to finely adjust tonal balance and harmonic distortion characteristics via dual potentiometers with LED indicators. It is designed to handle conventional loudspeakers with a minimum speaker load impedance of 4Ω. The Model 88 is built robustly, weighing 18kg, and comes in black piano or bordeaux finish. It is praised for its purity of tone, ability to maintain clarity at high volumes, and a relaxed, natural soundstage typical of high-quality single-ended triode amplifiers. The amplifier uses KT88 tubes and has an output impedance of approximately 3.7 ohms due to its no-feedback design. Dimensions are 200 x 380 x 310 mm. The Model 88 is considered a refined technology demonstrator for modeling harmonic distortion spectra of micro-power triodes while providing sufficient power for demanding music playback.
