About the Septum
The Audiomeca Septum is a precision-engineered unipivot tonearm crafted by Pierre Lurne, renowned for its exceptional vibration control and pure mass design. The armtube is machined from a solid aluminium drawn bar, creating a one-piece tapered structure that ensures extreme rigidity and neutrality. The unipivot bearing is optimized to minimize bearing chatter while allowing free movement in all planes, providing a direct path for vibrations to dissipate through the unipivot and a dedicated spike in the Belladonna turntable variant. The arm features a symmetrical ellipsoid of inertia and pure mass concept to achieve neutrality and reduce coloration. Adjustable VTA is provided via a simple height adjuster, and the entire VTA mechanism, anti-skate, finger lift, and cueing device can be easily removed to simplify the arm mount. The anti-skate mechanism is uniquely designed to pull only in the plane of the pivot and center of gravity, avoiding twisting forces common in other designs. The cueing device is made of metacrylic to reduce ringing. The Septum is considered a truly universal arm, compatible with a wide range of cartridges, and is priced around 5000 Euros. It is highly regarded for its ability to deliver an uncolored, immersive musical experience with excellent dynamic range and transient response.
