About the AC300
The Audiocraft AC300 is an oil-damped uni-pivot tonearm featuring interchangeable straight or S-shaped armwands. It is designed to provide extremely high tracking performance and faithfully transmit the sound contained in record grooves to the amplifier with the highest fidelity. The tonearm allows on-the-fly vertical tracking angle (VTA) adjustment and comes with a range of counterweights to match various cartridges. It employs a viscous damping mechanism to suppress unwanted resonances, especially in the low-frequency range, enhancing overall clarity. The AC300 series supports a wide range of cartridges, including high compliance and low tracking force types, which are difficult to use with conventional viscous damped arms. The arm stem, center block, and arm base are made of black anodized brass to improve sound quality. The arm stem diameter is standardized at 9 mm based on cartridge compliance tests. The arm base is enlarged for greater stability, and a heavy mounting nut (650 grams) is used to improve tonearm stability and performance. The tonearm includes a cue/pause lever with height adjustment and features gold-plated contacts and lead pins to prevent corrosion. The oil dump cylinder is designed to prevent oil leakage over many years, with adjustable lifter height. The effective length is 237 mm, with an overhang of 15 mm and mounting distance of 222 mm. The arm supports needle pressure adjustment from 0 to 3 grams in 0.25 g steps with direct reading. The AC300 is compatible with various optional accessories such as different counterweights and headshells to optimize performance for different cartridges.
