About the I/55
The Audio Research I/55 integrated amplifier combines a fully tube-based design with modern functionality, using two matched pairs of 6550WE output tubes and three 6922 tubes (one input, two driver) for renowned power and grace in a compact chassis. It features an independent active tube preamplifier section for wider gain range, higher headroom, stronger dynamics, and improved loudspeaker control compared to the I/50. Includes stereo preamp/subwoofer outputs, headphone jack driven by 6550 tubes, auto-bias for output tubes, LexieTubes display for input/volume, and optional DAC card (AKM Velvet Sound chip supporting USB, optical, coax, Bluetooth with upsampling) or MM/MC phono card (adjustable MC loading 50-1k ohms).
