About the LP8X

The Audio-Technica AT-LP8X is a high-end semi-automatic direct-drive turntable designed for audiophiles. It plays 33-1/3, 45, and 78 RPM records and features a newly designed tonearm lift that automatically raises the tonearm at the end of a record side and stops the motor, preventing cartridge damage. The turntable has a 25 mm rubber-damped, anti-resonance, die-cast aluminum platter with a 2.5 mm rubber mat, driven by a sensor-monitored low-torque DC servo motor for accurate and consistent platter rotation. The J-shaped aluminum tonearm is inspired by classic Audio-Technica models from the 1960s and 70s and includes adjustable vertical tracking angle (VTA) and a sub-counterweight allowing cartridge weights from 14.0 to 23.5 grams. It comes equipped with a lightweight AT-LT10 headshell and an AT-VM95E BK cartridge with a 0.3 x 0.7 mil elliptical stylus, compatible with all VM95 Series replacement styli for customization. The plinth is constructed from 16 mm medium-density fiberboard (MDF) with height-adjustable feet for vibration isolation. The turntable outputs a pure phono-level signal via detachable RCA cables and includes a 45 RPM adapter and removable hinged dust cover. An external phono preamp is required for line-level output.
