About the AT-14SA
The Audio Technica AT-14SA is a high-compliance, stereo moving magnet phono cartridge featuring a nude mounted Shibata stylus on a tapered cantilever. It offers a wide frequency response from 5 Hz to 45 kHz, an output voltage of 2.7 mV at 5 cm/sec, and a channel balance of 1.0 dB. The cartridge weighs approximately 5.8 to 7.0 grams depending on sources, with a recommended tracking force between 0.75 and 1.75 grams (nominal 1.25 g). It has a vertical tracking angle of 20 degrees and a dynamic compliance of about 9 x 10^-6 cm/dyne at 100 Hz, making it suitable for low to medium mass tonearms. The AT-14SA was originally introduced around the mid-1970s and is known for its precise tracking and detailed sound reproduction, especially favored for pop, rock, and CD-4 playback. The original replacement stylus is the ATN14 (burgundy color), now discontinued but available from aftermarket sources. The cartridge dimensions are approximately 17.0 mm width, 15.5 mm height, and 30.0 mm depth.
