The Audio Research VTM-200 is a hybrid transistor-input/vacuum tube-output monoblock power amplifier featuring three matched pairs of 6550C tubes, one matched pair of 6L6GC, one matched pair of 6AS7G, and two 6N1P tubes. It delivers 200 watts continuous power from 20Hz to 20kHz with a power bandwidth of 10Hz to 200kHz. The frequency response ranges from 0.5Hz to 240kHz (-3dB points at 1 watt). Total harmonic distortion is typically 0.5% at full power and less than 0.02% at 1 watt. The amplifier uses a fully balanced design with XLR input only, optimized for best performance. It includes user-friendly output tube biasing with a rotary switch and LED display, internal fan cooling with a two-speed switch, and output taps for 4, 8, or 16 ohm speaker loads. The power supply stores 438 joules of energy, contributing to fast, powerful bass and excellent dynamic headroom. The VTM-200 is known for its resolving power, musical dynamics, and spatial accuracy, making it a reference-class amplifier. Dimensions are 19" W x 8.75" H x 19.5" D, weighing 74 lbs.
