About the VS55

The Audio Research VS55 is a stereo vacuum-tube power amplifier featuring a rated output of 50 watts per channel continuous from 20Hz to 20kHz, with clipping at 52 watts. It uses four Russian-made 6550EH output tubes and three 6N1P driver and input tubes. The amplifier has a power bandwidth with -3dB points at 12Hz and 50kHz, and a frequency response extending from 1Hz to 60kHz. It employs an overall negative feedback of 12.5dB and achieves hum and noise levels below 0.2mV RMS (-100dB below rated output). The VS55 includes high-quality five-way gold-plated binding posts for 4 and 8 ohm speakers, single-ended RCA inputs, and a 12V trigger for remote power on/off. The chassis features an open design with a milled anodized top plate, finished in matte black with silver lettering. It is designed to pair well with Audio Research preamplifiers such as the LS16 and is praised for its rich, musical sound and excellent soundstaging.
