About the VS110

The Audio Research VS-110 is a stereo vacuum tube power amplifier featuring four matched pairs of 6550EH output tubes and five 6N1P input and driver tubes. It delivers 100 watts per channel continuous power from 20Hz to 20kHz, with a frequency response of 0.8 Hz to 40 kHz and total harmonic distortion typically 0.5% at 100 watts, dropping below 0.05% at 1 watt. The amplifier uses a push-pull triode input/driver stage feeding a partial-cathode-coupled output stage, updated with modern high-quality components including smaller, faster Nichicon capacitors. It has a damping factor of approximately 11 and an overall negative feedback of 12.7 dB. The VS-110 includes features such as voltmeter test points for bias adjustment, 12 VDC trigger in/out, detachable IEC power cord, and five-way binding posts for 0, 4, and 8 ohm speaker outputs. The chassis measures 17.5" W x 7.9" H x 19" D, weighs 61 lbs net, and is designed with ample ventilation for the tubes. It operates on 105-125VAC 60Hz or 210-250VAC 50Hz power, consuming 620 watts at rated output and 400 watts at idle. The amplifier is noted for its classic tube sound with strong bass and clarity, suitable for driving demanding speakers.
